Another "Car won't start" thread...

Well the intake manifold on the '97 was leaking oil in the rear. So I remove it and get everything sealed up. Put everything back together. Done this many times before on LT1's...pretty easy after a few shots. Straight forward. Well now the darn thing won't start. It just turns over. At time intermitedly (sp?) acts like it is going to fire but nothing. I didn't mess with any of the opti connectors. There weren't any starting or running issues before this. Obviously I have forgot something, but what could it be that would cause this? Any idea's?

I did remove the EGR and blocked off the ports. Could that be screwing with it?

Yes, it will read out...

Try checking the connector on the passenger side of the manifold, about mid way front to back, that goes to the OPTI. The connector might not be completely connected or the pins themselves may be corroded or bent. This strikes me as fairly likely as you just disconnected it to reseal the manifold...

I should be able to remove all of the egr and air pump stuff without causing any starting or running issues, correct?

yes, that's correct. You might get a SES light but it should start right up.

How did you not mess with any of the opti connectors? You had to at least move them out of the way......check the wiring, really...

Basically just tied it out of the way like I have all the other times. Could be the culprit from pulling on it. Didnt disconnect it. I unplugged it and just took a look at it. Tonight I will run the scanner and check for spark.

Re: Another "Car won't start" thread...

hmm...cylinders 5 and 7 have water in them. That's why it won't start. It is trying to hydro-lock. What the heck? I just replaced that head gasket. It's new. I even used feeler's to make sure the head wasn't warped. Makes no since unless the block is cracked. Not real common for LT1's.
