Another best LT1 head thread....

Saw the earlier thread on this topic and thought I'd piggy back off it but narrow the field a bit....what type of head setup (brand, valve size, etc.) would you recommend for your run of the mill forged bottom end 11:1 383, HR cam custom ground to match the completed heads, ported stock intake / 58mm throttle body? Let's say total budget for heads + any porting = 4k.....

Why the low compression?
Sounds like you aren't looking to go too wild, I would recommend talking to www.advancedinduction.com about a ported set of stock castings the whole rest of the valvetrain and maybe intake porting. Wont spend your full 4K but I don't think you are insisting on spending the whole chunk that was just the cap.

I have jsut installed my LE2, and I cannot be more happier with the way my car runs. Just amazing, and in your budget.

Certainly no argument against the appeal of stock heads worked over by LE or AI, but I'm a little surprised not to see Trick Flows or AFRs mentioned as discussion points. Wouldn't they be preferred candidates for feeding a 383 while staying within budget?

Re: Another best LT1 head thread....

The Trickflows can work very well too BUT ported LT1 castings are realisticly enough for most of us, they can feed a lot once properly opened up and for the aftermarket castings to be worthwhile you need them ported anyway.
