Re: Another 847 record....

Spun bearings is a oil pressure problem or something got into the motor during a cam swap and caused it.

Only problems from high RPM are when you over do the rod bolts and then you don't have to worry about the bearings cause the rod will take care of the block for you.

That's the bad thing about a stock LT1 bottom end vs. a stock LS1, at least a LS1 can drop new ARP rod bolts in there where you can't do that easily on a LT1 because you have to resize the big ends of the rods and at that point Scat I beams are a better choice.

Been turning the stock bottom end 6800-7000. Right now I have a serious lean condition so I am waiting on a walbro pump to take it back to the dyno. I recently put down 386.9rwhp at close to a 14.0 A/F ratio. I think its got 410ish in it once I can get it more fuel!

Way 2 Go guys! Those numbers with stock heads are very impressive!

You gotta richen that thing up some before those stock pistons have a hole in them!

Re: Another 847 record....

AFAIK, i have the fastest 6 speed.

Frank (forget user name) has the fastest cam only car overall. Its got a baby cam in it (210/224) and last i saw went 11.40s. Car is lightweight, and he gets some awesome launches.

That all depends. There is a guy on here with bolt ons and a cam dynoing around 267rwhp running like 12.4's. Then there are people with heavy mods dynoing 340+ rwhp who can't even break into the 12's.

i'm talking about quarter mile times. dyno numbers don't mean much to me. my car only put down 317 rwhp and went 11.90. and still have some more weight reduction to do .

Re: Another 847 record....

i have an off the wall question. im rebuiling mine right now. i decided a wanted to go to the cc306 and spin higher rpms on a rebuilt stock bottom. im to the point of re assembling it. i have .002 oil clearance on my mains and im concerned about spinning one. im pretty sure thats fine for a street car but im not sure about all those extra revs. whats a good crank oil clearance to have on a cam like the 847 or a 306?

nice vidoes and links theres some crazy dyno #s in there.

.002 is perfect main bearing clearance.

Cams don't change the main bearing clearance.

Could you post your dyno chart? I'd be really interested in the rest of the curve, etc.
