Just ask the guys who have stock motor's and 2.73's that changed to 3.73's Mosty didnt pickup any et improvement. but It will give you a sotp improvement big time. I know had had them in my camaro and put 3.73 in ran the same et. but thats just me. I would go LONG TUBES

What were your before and after 60 ft's?

Gear swap vs. improvement in et has always been a big debate. I believe if you can get traction then it's a big improvment, but without traction then you won't see much better of an et if any at all.

I would go with the lt's. They will be about the same improvment as the gears. But it is because you will have more hp. Also your car will sound better.

It was along time ago when I swaped gears in the Camaro but It did'nt spin much at all, a little chirp and it was gone I had 3.73 in my TA and broke them. Put 3.23's in and picked up .14 in the 8th with the same 60ft times of 1.79 8.19 @83mph. And a guy with a LS1 at the track has 2.73's and a 150 shot and pulls the tire a wee bitAnd gets great gas milage doing it.

If you couldn't pull a better 60ft with the 3.73's then traction had to be some what of a problem or your running a stock stall, which I highly doubt. Also, with your car, you ran a better 1/8th time w/ the 3.23's because you didn't have to shift into 3rd, like w/ the 3.73's, so that makes perfect sense to me. I'm sure the 3.73's would have yielded a better quarter though. Congrats on the ls1, lots of non n/a cars can pull the tires with lower gears and traction.

I still say though, that with what mods he has he would get a lower et with 3.73's AND drag radials or et streets. Although he may still be able to trap higher with the long tubes.

I would post one or the other but I did LTs and TC at the same time so I will let you know how both together affect my times.
I have 3.73s too so it should be interesting.

My car goes into 3rd in the 8th mile with 3.23's best mph 83@mph na 93MPH N20.If I had 2.73's it might just stay in 2nd.

hmm, i think at 93mph, with the cam i have, mine would have barely jumped into 3rd...and that's with 3.42s. if i kept my 3.23s, it'd still be in 2nd gear.
but, then again my cam goes to 6500rpm...and floats at 6700. so that'll make a difference.

With my old 2.73's I could hold 2nd gear until 95. Now with 3.73's 2nd comes out around 65. Holding 2nd to 95 was sweet.

think for now i'll just got with LTs, may just throw in a cam while I do it, since I'm taking apart a buncha crap anywho. =) I like mods that show up on the dyno, and a cam and LTs might just put me where I want to be. Then I'll do a buncha tranny/suspension/gears/wheels stuffs. We'll see what falls in my lap (sales and such), most responses I've ever gotten on such a tired old issue. Thanks guys, appreciate it, but hey who here doesn't like BSing about cars anywho.
