Alternator sound
Re: Alternator sound
could it just be poorly adjuster rocker arms, if thats the case why is it happening now. i drove the car for about 2 weeks without any sounds like that. someone told me it could be a stuck lifter. anyway to get it unclogged without taking everything back apart
Re: Alternator sound
Well, you should probably stop guessing and start narrowing things down.
Take the alternator off and shake it...it shouldn't rattle. If it does, that's your problem. Try spinning it..it should spin freely with no 'roughness' in the bearings. While it's off, take it to your local auto store and have it tested...since you reported a voltage that drops to the red as the engine runs. Anyway, try to isolate the sound to the alternator or the engine.
While the alternator is off, pull the valve cover on that side and check the rocker arms. Nothing should be loose enough to rattle around....
Good luck!

Re: Alternator sound
no way i could of dropped it in the head valve cover and oil cap where on. but anyway if i dropped it in the head it probably would of got caught up on the head gasket and if it did rip through there would be a sign of that.. anyone got any ideas im very stuck
