Re: Alternative fireing order?

none do not do that there is no alternate firing order. the miss is probly from wire arching.

its supposed to be plugs 4 and 7, but I was reading an article about an Edelbrock Cam that was made specificly for that, i dont know if stock ignition and valvetrain could handle that.

I would go ahead, and put 8 numbers in a hat... the left side of the block, from front to back, would be 1-4... the right, from front to back... 5-8.... pick numbers out of a hat and, those will be your spark plug wires... insert corresponding wires, with spark plugs... see if that helps.

Re: Alternative fireing order?

seriously whoever told you that is a moron... a motor is only designed to fire one way... alternating from that is GOING to cause a misfire somewhere, no matter what.

Re: Alternative fireing order?

your high rpm miss is most likely a failing opti. The computer can not keep up after 4200 rpm's, so the opti is on its own after that... if the opti is going bad, it will not be able to fire correctly over 4200rpm's... how many miles are on the opti?

Re: Alternative fireing order?

to really check out the opti you have to get a data log and see if its advancing the timing all the way out like it should. i would check the wires first i know a few dozen people who have had the high rpm stuter. in all most every case it was the wires arching new or not. get the thing warm this evening then park and open the hood. look for arching. check close sometimes its under the manifolds and hard to see. also from the coil to the opti. good luck and let us know if u find anything.
