Alot of play in brake pedal?

My friend just changed the brakes on his car and there is a lot of play in the brake pedal. Anyone know what this means? I thought I knew but I forgot....

Not enough brake fluid.
System needs to be bled.

Either one of those would probably cure the problem.

when you change your brake pads you'll have less pressure on the peddle, it wiil go to the floor a few times and then the pressure will return, if for some reason it doesn't you will have to bleed the brakes.
Any other question give me a holler.

front or back? if their the back brakes, pull the parking brake lever a few times, this adjusts the caliper, and should be done every now and then(once a week?)
