Almost lost my $#@% Head

Well maybe I didn't almost lose my head but i forgot to take the battery off and I was getting once of the wires on the starter out and low and behold sparks flying at me from the starter area. I immidatly moved out of the way and just waited about a second till the sparks stopped.

Now did I just blow all the money I am saving doing headers by frying my starter....I have all my plugs and o2's already disconnected so I cannot crank it to check it.

I was disconnecting the wire on the starter(bottom left one) and I was going to put some force to loosed it and I hit the two silver lines down their(fuel lines?). It was then followed by sparks flying down at my head . I am not a big electrical guy but if anybody knows what I did and what are the chanceds I fried my starter????????

Thanks to anybody who can help .

PS - A header install is full of suprises

I dunno if you fried it, but I suggest disconnecting either the positive or negative terminal on your battery, dumbass.

P.S. - I've done this in the past myself, so don't feel bad.

I have also done it, the car just tried to start, and shocked the **** out of me, but no harm done to the car, you should be fine.

I didn't do it with my starter.. but when I was doing my header install.. I was kneeling on my engine working on the passenger side header with an L-Handle. My battery was connedted because I was not doing anything electical.. so I didn't even think to unhook it.. So I'm working away while my buddy is under the car, and the L-Handle touched something, I think it might have been an alternator bracket or something it was just some metal thing, and sparks flew from the L-Handle down towards my friend lmao! Didn't hit him but he was close.

From then on.. I ALWAYS disconnect the negative terminal no matter WHAT I'm doing.

Precisely why most procedures have "disconnect negative battery cable" as the first step.
