Why I ask is I have a 94 and the GM Hot cam kit will not work without having some machine work done on the spring seats. Other people claim they just swap in the kit with no problems . Or did they just not check the setup.

Is this LT1 in an F-body or different type of car?

Yes its a 1994 camaro motor. The machine shop I use said they are alot like a vortech head. He's wondering how much he can take off at the spring seat area and not hurt the head?

The O.D. on my springs is 1.640. The spring pad was opened enough to accomodate the hardened Manley spring locator with no problem.

Well I found that a good old sbc head installed valve height is 1.750.
I read that Lt1 heads are 1.780. But mine are 1.700. Like a vortech head.Just wondering why? Is some 94 -95 heads different? I don't want to run beehive springs.I could run lash caps or maybe offset spring caps if anyone makes them. But I think having the head machined would be better in the long run .If I knew how much I could cut down the seat and not hurt the head.
