oil pressure goes to 0 under hard braking
ever since ive had the car, over a year and 15000 miles, every time i hit the brakes hard when coming to a stop sign or whatever, my oil pressure goes to 0 and the light on the dash says "CHECK GUAGES" then once i blip the throttle just a tiny bit or start to drive again it goes right back to normal. is this because the oil is shifting in the pan and the oil pump cant reach it? does anyone else have this happen? the motor doesnt miss or studder or shake or anything when it does this just the guage goes to 0 and nothing else changes. anybody have any ideas?

Lots of possibilities. You could have a loose pickup or it may have fallen off.
You could drain the oil and tap on the pan and see if anything is rattling around.
You could not have enough oil in the pan. Because you didn't put enough in or it got pumped up into the valve covers or intake gallery. Could be caused by high volume pump or glogged drain back holes. Drain the oil and add 4 qts let it sit then check where it comes on the dip stick, maybe the stick is wrong.
Really thin oil. There are other things like the stock pan baffles came off, etc. but they would be very unusual.

damnit...guess i got ANOTHER project now. im dropping my whole front suspension to replace it with all new components, think it would be wise to do this when i drop the K member? or is it easily accessible without dropping it?

One more vote for "get your oil pump intake tube WELDED on". I found a local shop to get it braized(sp?) all the way around on the bottom of the tube. Trust me, this is probably your problem because I "fixed" this problem about 5 times before it was finally done. Dont have someone just tac it in a few spots either, this will not work. You need a good bead on the lip of the intake tube a good halfway around the tube.

I'm surprised that you haven't had to rebuild it by now if it's been a problem for over a year. Hopefully your bearings aren't toast.
