air! removal on 96

air! removal on 96

im about to remove the air on my 96 and was wondering what size fitting i need to cap off the manifold. i know a 95 and older is a m21 but what does a 96 and 97 use

94-95's are 22mm i believe 96-97's are diff as my buddy tried 22mm on his 97 and they wouldn't work. If i was you i would just take the air tubes and cut them. Then take off and weld up the hole in the fitting that screws into the manifold.

I agree with Z95M6 you will need a dremel with some cutting wheels . I used the exstention wand to help get in the tight spaces . Takes a lot of patience to get that dang thing out as it is wrapped tightly around the front of the motor. Just curious why are you removing the AIR system ? Doesn't give you any HP.

You need to remove the stock fittings and then go to Home depot and pick up some caps from the plumbing section. Bring the stock ones to get the size right. Then you can paint them with some high temp paint to make them look better on there. I think this willl be a lot cleaner and more professional look. This is what I did and it worked great.

im removing them just to clean up the engine bay. and i need to take off the valve covers to check on the push rods and just dont wanna deal with them.
