air pump recall

Can anyone tell me what the recall was on the air pump that the following web site refers to? Where does the other end of the wire (#1) go to?

thanks

Re: air pump recall

Sorry, the wire is #2, the part it plugs into is #1. I'm looking for where the other end goes....

Re: air pump recall

The recall was specific to the 95-97 models. The AIR pump rusts up from condensate in exhaust gasses leaking back into the sytem when the AIR pump is turned off. The corrosion causes excessive power draw on the pump, and blows the fuse. They appear to be adding devices to block the passage of exhaust gasses bck into the AIR system when the AIR pump is not running (which is 99% of the time - it only runs for 2-3 minutes at startup).

Don't know where the other end of wire #2 goes. What year is your car?

Re: air pump recall

I need the bracket that holds the AIR valve vacuum solonoid in place. Judging by the diagram, it appears to attach to the front of the head. Any ideas on where I could find out more or even get a part number for the bracket?

Re: air pump recall

What is the deal with the recall - the pump in my camaro is dead and I have a functioning replacement so I could do it myself, but I guess it will fail again at some point. Can I bring it to the dealer and make them do the fix free of charge with the updated parts because it is smog related and a recall or is this too old to have them do...I don't want to crawl under there and fix it if I can make them do it for free...

Call a dealer and give them your VIN to see if it still qualifies.
