!AIR, Parts?

Can I have a list of any and all parts I will need to do away with the AIR system? Thanks!

Re: !AIR, Parts?

Two 22mm oil drain plugs to plug the connections on the exhaust manifolds, get the little copper gaskets for them, too. One 5/8" vacuum cap to cap off the hole on the air intake for the AIR pump air supply.

Does this do anything besides get rid of that stupid air pump, i was debating on wheather or not to delete it. Any gain to it you think? I guess it makes it less cramped under the hood, which is a good thing

Re: !AIR, Parts?

There is no performance gain of any kind, other than the fact that you have reduced the weight on the front of the car by 7#. The pump only runs for a few minutes at startup, to help heat the cat(s) faster.

Re: !AIR, Parts?

I have a question regarding the 22mm drain plug. I had to grind about 1/4" off the bottom to make it sit flush with the exhaust manifold, did anybody else do the same thing?

It is a very large oil drain plug (I believe.) I bought mine from Napa Auto Parts.

Re: !AIR, Parts?

Yeah, i got mine at autozone, and i was able to reuse the copper gasket from the original fittings there. Its worth removing if you have a fix for the check engine light(i.e. programming) or you have a OBD1 car. Not only does it remove extra weight, but you can actually see your opti/wires from above the car , also makes it alot easier to work on the car and cleans up the engine bay alot, but NO perf. gain whatsoever though.

Re: !AIR, Parts?

Anyone have a picture of these plugs. I have a feeling i am going to ask for a 22mm drain plug and they aren't going to know what i am talking about.

Re: !AIR, Parts?

This wont cause a car to fail emissions, would it? I dont normally run cats on my car, but when inspection time comes around, I throw the cat back in, and test. I have a 95.

Thanks,
James

Re: !AIR, Parts?

Make sure your car is in closed loop before it's tested and you shouldn't have a problem as long as they don't pop the hood andstart asking questions. In reality I passed without it no problem.

They didnt know what I was talking about, so you will probably need to give them a thread pattern. The thread pattern is M22x1.5 I beleive they were used on older german cars. Its a pretty big plug, I ended up ordering from an online parts store because none of the auto parts stores around here had that plug. If you cant find it, let me know and Ill find the site I ordered from.

Re: !AIR, Parts?

I'll be getting the same. I was told my headers are the M22-1.5. I need to get off the Jet Hot supplied pieces out of there, but I don't have a big enough wrench.

Re: !AIR, Parts?

I have a set of these in my toolbox right now that I did not use (went with emission free LT's). PM an offer shipped if you want them. I should be able to send these via US Mail in a padded envelope.
