Ahhhhh!

after wanting to set my car on fire...i calmed myseft and figured i would try and find wisdom from the gods of this forum. Ok,Here's my issue...... it will be a long post.

I first took the car to the dealer because of several problems:

1. When i turn my headlights on, and only when i turn my headlights on, my TCS off light and ABS inop light will come on.

2. My check engine light was coming on

3. NONE of my interior lights or my power door locks are working.

The dealer said the following:

1. My EBCM was bad, i need a new one the code pulled up is 55 which means internal malfunction.... $856

2. The check engine light is saying my O2 sensor left bank is bad... $350

3. They replaced a circuit breaker and everything worked fine

Ok, well being the cheapskate that i am I guess i wasn't about to pay 1200 dollars to get screwed over by a dealer. So i ordered the EBCM myself, as well as the oxygen sensor.

Welll here the story gets interesting..... I didn't pay for anything at the dealer so i'm assuming they took the circuit breaker back out of the car because nothing worked in the interior when i picked it up.

1. I replaced the ebcm, only to find out that the problem still exists with the abs light. Here's my thing...... When i turn on my headlights, i hear a deep click coming from the front of the car and then the tcs off light and abs light come on. THat is the only time the tcs off light and abs light come on, when i start up the car, drive it around, they do not come on, only when i turn on my lights. I narrowed it down to being whenever I turn on my running lights but I still can't figure out what that deep click is. Also, I can't find the circuit breaker that the dealer supposedly replaced either. So.... I guess my questions are this:

1. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the tcs problem and clicking noise?

2. Does anyone have a diagram of where every fuse and circuit breaker in the entire car are located?

3. What else could be causing the interior light problem?

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Ahhhhh!

A manual will have all the diagrams you need. Sounds like you need one. A factory manual would be best.

Try cleaning the ground on the RH shock tower. That might fix your ABS problem.

Re: Ahhhhh!

When I put my engine back in I had similar problems (light acting weird, gauges lights on that should not be on, on ect.....) It ended up being the ground. There was one by the headlight that was loose and the engine ground was loose. Grounds will cause very odd things to happen if not grounded properly. I don't know if you looked in shoebox's signature but he has his website in it...................LOTS of great info in it. If you don't see it the address is www.shbox.com .Goodluck, they're a MAJOR pain to figure out sometimes.

You are right, the dealership will rob you! If you can figure it out yourself you'll be alot better off.

Re: Ahhhhh!

Just a suggestion here. But when you turn your lights on, you are putting an extra load on the alternator which may be weak and causing an issue with the electrical system setting off your abs and tcs lights. Have it checked at any parts store.

Re: Ahhhhh!

I had a simular problem. My and ABS lights would caome on with the lights on and the turn signals would not work, either. I months later figured out I had a loose ground for the rear lights. When I was putting in the new amp, I loosen it up and forgot to retighten it.

I would check, clean and retighten any ground wires I could fine. I would start with one Shoebox mentioned.

Re: Ahhhhh!

where exactly is the ground for the rear lights? I check the ground that shoebox said in the front, cleaned them and everything. I checked the 3 that are in the engine compartment and the engine ground.

Re: Ahhhhh!

if you are standing at the rear of the car with the hatch open. it is on the lefthand side of the latch, behind the carpet.
