ahh, knock retard!

Hey, i'm still haveing a problem with knock retard, i scaned the car last week and its still pulling 5-9* of timeing through the rpm range, i have a lt4 km and the car is fairly stock, there is a ticking sound at idle, i don't think it is a lifter so that narrows it down to a leaking exhaust manifold gasket, would this be picked up as knock? I have also ran a mix of 92 and 110 raceing gas and it still did it.

I would fin the exhaust leak, because it will mess up the O2 readings.

go to Sears and get one of the automotive stethescopes. My dad picked one up over christmas break. Those things are an incredible tool. You can listen to any part of the engine and listen to every single rotating part. I would get one of those and go around the engine and make sure you're not getting knock somewhere else in the engine, but I would bet it's the exhaust leak that is causing it.

If your getting the same knock retard with the higher octane mix the knock is most likely false. If you have the stock KM laying around try swapping it back into the pcm......I was seeing more knock counts with the lt4 KM than with the stocker .

Ticking could be an exhaust leak.

thanks for the tip, i'll try to swap the stock km in and see what happens. I'm gonna put on headers soon so that may take care of the exhaust leak. What ever it is it is really pissing me off, the best i could do at the track with a sliping stock clutch was a 14.7 with a 2.4 60'. hopefully i can pull of a high 13 if i get my timeing issues taken care of.

Hey you dork, make sure to get rid of the ticking noise, because if you can hear it in your car most likely the knock sensor can too! If you don't have your LT1 KM I have mine at home and can get it for ya.

Chris

PS I still need a ride with the new clutch!
