aftermarket fuel pump
i recently asked the same question, and as far as PSI and LPH and all that they said it wouldn't hurt anything or change anything really. There are a few products out there, check out Jegs, Summit, all the popular sites...
I purchased a Granatelli Motorsports fuel pump a while back from Summit Racing and installed it on my 1990 IROC-Z. I upgraded to a new and better--255lph-- due to the addition of the nitous system. The only difference I saw, was about 4-5 psi increase from the stock one. I checked my fuel pressure before I installed it and adjusted it after the installation was complete. This would be a good thing to do before installation. I use 44 psi. I plan to put the same fuel pump on both my 94 and 95 Z28's when the upgrades start going as extreme as my ROC's.
My fuel pump is going and I will have to replace it at some point. My car does not have any major mods yet, just a few bolt ons. In the future I may do stuff that needs a better fuel punp and I don't want to do it twice. Aftermarket fuel pumps are also cheaper than stock I believe.
