After market Radiator Question and sugestions

I am looking at 2 Radiators right now for my car one is the Be Cool and the other is made by Charged Air. I saw it at LS1speed.com under 1995 Firebird Fuel and cooling.

I don't know which is a better product. I was wondering if any one here has used any of these products. I am looking for the better product for cooling the 383 Stroker. I already know I will have to pay a few $$$ for either of the 2. So what would youbuy and why.

I have an A4L60ED so I need the one with the cooler

I have a Griffen radiator on my 381. A work of art. Only problem was it seemed to be slightly taller than stock, and I had to cut down the top radiator support to lower my Ram Air box back where it belongs. Not sure how it would fit as far as thickness, since I no longer have an A/C condensor in front of it.

do they make one with a Tranny cooler?
How pricy was it?

I purchased a Be Cool radiator because the motor ran a little hot in the 105+ temps out here. I thought the workmanship was very good and the core is twice as thick as my stock unit. The fit was excelent and I didn't have to modify anything other than the bottom rubber support pad on the drivers side. I also installed a CSI waterpump while I was in there and I have had no more problems.

When I bough mine, the car was an M6, so I didn't need the tranny cooler. When I swapped to the TH400, I added a fan assisted external trans cooler.

Can't find the receipt, but I think it was around $500.

Personally I think the stock radiator will support a built 383. I went with a BE cool radiator and encountered so many clearance issues since I am running a electric waterpump and supercharger. I eventually went with 1- 16-in Spal low profile fan since that was the only thing that would fit. I did not see a big temp decrease and actually noticed that the stock radiator and fans cooled my setup better.

I had almost the same problems with the griffen radiator. Besides I could not tell any significant decrease from going to the griffen? SO I sold it and put the stock back in. I think I paid $525 for it a few years ago. HTH

Im not sure what to do but I need something to be ordered today. I like the Charged air as well as the Be Cool. I just don't kow which will out perform the other? I'll have to flip a coin unless I can speak to Charged Air today and ask them some questions. I still haven't been able to talk to them on the phone.

I agree. I run the stock radiator with a CSI water pump, 160 stat, and have never had any problems. I drive my car over 100 miles a week during the summer and have been on 300+ miles road trips with no issues. Unless you live in Death Valley you may not need a aftermarket radiator.

I don't know that it will ro won't support the motor but I do kow I will save time and money if I do it now rather than later. Plus I wond have to worry about my old radiator falling apart in the near future.

I flushed my rad last spring and then ran 3 bottles of water wetter!!

In the summer we had almost 100F temps and the car ran just under the red section. I had to keep the heater on full or it would overheat.

Mind you I also have a 3200 stall converter which heats things up pretty fast as well.
