AFR's or lloyd elliot?

Went to a speed shop today and told the guys I could get my stock heads decently ported to flow 270+ by Llyod Elliot for 1100-1200. They said not to even bother and purchase some AFR's for 1600. Now my first thought is "Uh huh, whatever", now is there is any logic behind why they said this other than to get me to order from them? Thanks.

It depends on what you want to do. Unported afr heads will not flow as well as Lloyds heads. if you plan on expanding in the future and will eventually have the afr's ported then they may be the better choice.
I am really happy with my heads from Lloyd.
Hope this helps.

Yep, if your plan on running more cubes then get the AFR's. I recommend running Lloyds heads AND CAM. I've got his heads and a matched custom grind SMALL cam(~220/226) and I've ran a best of 11.71 at 116.76.
