Agreed... no track times, no care.

I got bashed the other day on LS1tech for laying into an LS1 owner with 460rwhp trapping a whopping 117 MPH.

Im not bashing on anyones car, I think he has a pretty awesome set up all things considered.
Keep in mind there's those of us (like me) who cut 1.5's on stock suspension...

Just be cause your old LT1 heads were ported does not mean it was done well.
Youre right I suck.

[QUOTE=Turbo6;4881537]This topic comes up every few months and it is the same thing. The "haves" and the "have nots" and each will argue their side of the story to death.

QUOTE]

I’ve seen the same thing on numerous occasions of AFR owners vs non-AFR owners but I am a former 227 AFR customer and obviously pretty strong critic at times. It shouldn't come to anyone’s surprise that I’m d48mclain on the Vette list. Not one to hide behind fake names but Denny McLain was used already on that list and d48mclain is the first part of my e-mail address.

Anyway… just to give a few insights. Tony Mamo and I communicated for a while about me putting a set of his heads on my car and comparing the new AFR’s to my ported Trick Flows. I was to baseline dyno my car sending him the dyno sheets with my intake/heads and he would send everything back with a pair of AFR heads.

On a one-on-one basis openly admit I enjoyed talking to Tony on the phone and was looking forward to seeing what his new heads would do. Thought it was a very ballsy and upfront offer from AFR/Tony. In return, I was to post the results and perhaps even help with an article. Currently making in the 480 rwhp range using a hydraulic cam in a true street car so the Trick Flows are doing something right. Not an easy deal for AFR to walk into by any means. Like I say, a very standup offer.

To make a long story short, it never happened mainly because things got a little funky between me and the shop I was working with and starting a new business has sucked up all my time. Everything got lost in the shuffle and made out a 4-sale sign heading to the NHRA nations this morning to see if I can drum up some interest to sell the car even. Just don’t have time and hate to see it go, but stuff happens

However a little gasoline for you AFR vs non-AFR diehards fire………

Just received a call (like 15 minutes ago) from the shop I formally was working with whom did receive two sets of the new AFR heads. Power wise in a 12 to 1 compression 396 I’d say the heads make “decent” power (440 rhwp and 386 torque with a moderate cam). Only 386 rwt does kinda surprise me for 195 cc castings and a cam in the mid to high 230 range as I would expect the torque to be a little higher. Made about 445 rwhp and 425 torque from a set of Lloyds LT1 heads in a 11.8 383 with a GTP 6 233/244 cam. Openly admit the car lived on the dyno to get every last bit of power, but that is quite a bit of difference in torque and doesn’t make sense to me.

The real kicker is the castings are leaking. According to the shop there is a fluid leak between the lower header bolt and the exhaust port. AFR wants the heads back for repair while the shop wants new heads. Also the heads are going into valve float around 6200 rpm with the supplied springs from AFR.

So……there ya go, a little more to chew on girls. In the interim while everyone fights and says it ain’t so, guess I hit up Ashley Force for a hot date or something. Aaa…Yo Ashley. Doing anything tonite?

I have a set of 210 competition ported LT4 eliminators. I ordered them in July anticipating long lead times. I was shocked when I got them within three weeks. So they are indeed available. My problem is I won't have them installed and running until over the winter since I was planning the project around not getting the heads until the fall.

Obviously I can't speak to how they perform yet.

this was the only point I was trying to make.

The "old" AFR's were good if you could get ahold of them. I am sure the new Eliminator heads are better.

I cant tell you about that for sure since my motor is already running with a set of TF's on it My motor would still be "getting together" if I were looking to put the Eliminators on it.

This is good news if there are actually people with them in hand now... Not many of them out there so I hope they have good results. I will be looking for the review to come in the near future.

Hehe...my point exactly.

Just wanted to know if anyone had seen hard-core evidence yet on the virtues of the "new" AFR heads. Seems I got people in a frenzy over who makes a better head and is porting better than off the shelf.

No track times, it wasnt a full weight car, however it did beat a few low 11sec mustangs, and a zo6

The car had full suspension, adj phr, upper/lower arms, tq arm, kb dd sfc welded, stb, poly motor, tranny mounts, just about nothing on the car was stock.. it had ice cold a/c, ps, all that, and never ran without a glitch, even the rearend held up, and my cousin didnt baby it, my dad has probably setup 1000 rear ends, and its all about setup when it comes to the rear, but even he was suprised to see it still alive after 40k of abuse, 7.5s are just tiny.

It had insane power, huge flat torque, and revved up like a sport bike, and could easily get sideways on the highway with the 335 viper tires.
