AFR Eliminator series heads
I have a full weight 97 WS6 with 190 AFRs (old style) a 9.5:1 compression 383 stock unported intake, and with the 383 I trap in the 119-121 range at the same track in Oklahoma as The Engineer (mid low 11s). (if youve ever tried to get some good mph in 80 percent humidity and 100 plus degrees in Oklahoma, its not fun) I paid 1300$ for my heads in the late 90s from Dallas export sales. (www.strokermotor.com) They have the new ones now for 1700$.
Before I bought my AFRs I had ported LT1 heads on my old 350 set-up in my 93 T/A it ran 12.40ish at 112 with the ported stockers, I blew a head gasket and it ruined the heads so I just went ahead and bought the AFRs, since another set of ported stockers would be close in price. with the afr heads, same cam, and everything else the same I went 12.20ish at 114 mph with the heads out of the box and a thicker head gasket. Oh yeah that was with a cc305 w/1.6 rockers.
I did have to wait over a month for my heads as well.
I am now finishing up my new shortblock (11.5 :1 compression 383) and will have these same heads on and freshened up (with 1.08 int valves). I'm anxious to see what 2 points of compression a bigger valve, and a ported intake do for me.

Face it people, the world revolves around the LSx block.
Noone would spend the money on an exotic LT1 block when LSx motors are so readily available.

While you're stating my track times "aren't exactly impressive and I need to update my times" I don't see where you, yourself have posted any times, impressive or un-impressive for your car???
As a rule, I guess it's much easier to find fault with someone else's set-up than to articulate the merit of one's own.

Your car is plenty fast

A friend has an Impala with ported LT1 heads 2.00/1.56 valves and he will walk you all day long. Watched the car hotlap 11.1 in 105 degree heat in St. Louis, in normal weather he brackets at 10.8 car is not carved up(full leather interior intact), lightened but heavier than an f-body still.
Just be cause your old LT1 heads were ported does not mean it was done well.
The LT1 was too short a production run and in too few vehicles to get the massive aftermarket support you guys think it should, had it made it into the trucks then we might have a prayer but the y,b,f,d-bodies it was in were all fairly low production vehicles. Guys who want an aluminum LT1 block bad enough convert a Gen 1 block, I know one guy who went so far as to make two than ran optis and cam driven waterpumps.
The LSx has already been in production twice as long as the LT1 and used in the whole lineup including trucks that is why it has support, NUMBERS.
Another thing to think about is the AFRs are nearly as heavy as iron heads, for those of you who get all worked up about weight.
They do have their place, the most impressive Impala I know of uses AFR 227s but then again it is a 434ci aluminum block "LT1" being fed 15psi and a small nitrous shot for chemical intercooling. At the level most of us play at though they just do not live up to their reputation.
People need to understand that different things are better at different levels, SB2.2s are better at making massive power than AFRs doubt anyone would argue that, but you wont catch me putting them on my daily driver because they are not right for that.
Javier, I wasnt bashing, didnt mean to come across that way. I was just saying, the sole reason he is in 10's is because he happened to do suspension work that most people neglect. Hence the reason he is cutting 1.5 60's while most do 1.8-2.2's ... And later I even said that he needs to get it somewhere with a reasonable DA cause thats killing his time. Im not bashing on anyones car, I think he has a pretty awesome set up all things considered.
im sick of reading all these afr bashing topics, when 90% of the people never had them on their cars.
In 2000, me and my dad put together my cousins 94 trans am, 62k mile stock short block, 6 speed.
Now my dad has built hundreds of performance engines in his 40 years of doing it, and even worked for gm high perf division for a few years so he is no idiot when it comes to motors.
Heres what we did to the car
Afr 215 Gtp ported heads, lt4 intake, it was the biggest port polish job you could get.
Custom billet roller to match heads, i belive it was somewhere around 600 lift
Lt4 ed timing set, vented opti, ram air conversion
ASM 58mm tb
Lt1 edit
Rocker girdle, Tall valve covers
Meziere Ewp
Flp headers, y, borla catback, e cutout
38lb injectors, 255 pump, aeromotive adfpr
billet balancer hub, fuildyne
and a few more things im sure im forgetting, anyway with his tune, this combo put down 433 rwhp in 2000, with a tune my cousin did, im sure it has more in it with a good tune, the car was fully loaded, no cage, working a/c, and daily driven, it had one of the nastiest idles ive ever heard, but was a snap to drive on the street, with just a massive pull from 2k-7k
He sold the car a few years back, kept in touch with the owner who also just sold it, the car had about 100k miles on it, and the kid just got it dynoed, 436hp at the wheels, he said all he did was plugs, oil change. The car also had full suspension, alum d/s, mccloud dual disc,4.10s, chrome zr1s, 335 viper tires in back, and they didnt rub
My cousin then bought a 2003 final edition ( last of the old body style) viper gts coupe, he then added headers, and exhaust, and we ran the trans am against it on a highway roll, and was pullin on him.
This combo would be good for 500rwhp with a stroker and a good tune, the afr heads are very good, but if your on a budget you could get similar results with ported stockers, i feel the car wouldnt have made as much with ported stockers, and if it had, it would be somewhat maxed out, i think the afrs are worth if if you want to really max out your setup, and have the money to do so

This topic comes up every few months and it is the same thing. The "haves" and the "have nots" and each will argue their side of the story to death.
If you don't think that AFR's are worth the money, just buy the LE heads and be happy with a solid 400-410rwhp. If you want to go further, there is always extra hand work that can be done to AFR castings.
As a point of reference, my numbers were made with AFR's CNC'd head, no additional port work through a 6spd with a 67# clutch assembly (stock is 36).
