I'm no head expert, and i am just going purely based on intuition so its probobly wrong and I hope someone corrects me if i am wrong-
but to my understanding, a bigger port = less velocity.
Less velocity is a bad thing, very bad- especially if you have a big cam and want to make any power down low.

Id really like to hear a pros opinion

i'm no pro either, i just know a few things. and that big of a port on a stock 350cid lt1 with your 306 cam is going to do nothing good for you down low. if you wanted a huge port i'd go the small cam route. but since you already have a 306 i would suggest something in the 200cc range or the 195's. ported stockers are however cheaper and turn out at ~195-200cc's (in my exp). that cam would probably do better for you with some more compression as well so how about just a set of well ported stockers and some angle milling with impala head gaskets. just my $.02

We all know that damn cam is too big for stock heads anyway... but did you listen

Try em out. You never know what could happen. If they dont work out, they'll be easy to sell im sure.

Keep us posted.

Well if you're going to drop the $ on aftermarket castings, you might as well have someone decent port them... so in the end you're looking at a fair chunk of change (to most people). For most people, I wouldnt spend the $ on aftermarket castings if you're wanting what most want (450-500hp on the stock shortblock w/ a HR).

If you were to run a good 210-220cc port, i'd be running a little more cam .

Correct me if I am wrong but don't you have to have the intake cut to work on the AFR 220s ?
