afr 210's

i have a set of afr 210's bare...
i need to put them together for my engine... i have never done this.

i am making a turbo car, my quetions are as follows...

how much is involved in putting together the entire setup, rr's studs valves everything?

and should i port the heads before i put it all together?

also would it be in my best interrest to just send them away and have them done professionally? if so who should they go to?

Do the heads have CNC marks in the ports already?

What Bret is getting at is asking if these heads have been ported. You can buy them from AFR with only minimal post-casting work or CNC ported. In the latter case, you can use them at is. If they were bought without the CNC work, they need a good port job or you be giving up a LOT of power. CNC vs. hand porting is a different topic altogether, but I prefer a good head porter to a CNC program based on a port job that is unknown. All the CNC machining does is replicate a previous hand ported head.

post some pics? haha, well take a look at where the head is machined, like where it would bolt to the intake or header, then look in one of the ports and if it has been cnc ported the surface finish would look and feal simular, i would think. If it hasn't it will feal kind of rough like sand paper. I have never really seen a cnc'd head before so idk if some hand porting is done after to rough up the intake ports a little or not...

Look in those exhaust ports.... see the texture of the ports, that's what CNC work looks like.

If you’re going to use www.AdvancedInduction.com ‘s bandwidth the least you could do is have the courtesy to mention it. It’s funny the freshly machined flange is like a clean black car, there’s always fingerprints etc. showing up

Shon,

That was the first place I could think of other than ETP that might have a good picture of what a tool mark looks like.

Anyways I figured one of you Ai leghumpers would do all that for me... i know how you guys HAVE to get those Ai plugs in all the time ;-) J/K

I figured I was doing them a favor to increase the bandwidth for them.

I would have thought a Master Engine Builder like you might have pix like this, but guess not.

And I am glad to see the that "professionals" are still able resort to name calling when they dont like something, especially when a "no body" starts asking questions.

I love it when someone initiates an argument with an inflammatory remark, then when they get an appropriate response, try and make them look bad for responding in kind...

Bret could have said, here is a nice shot of the CNC marks from AI's website , or something to that effect. but he did not give the appropriate credit and in his post you would think that it was his own picture from his archives. but it's not.
