Question Afr 195cc comp. Emissions legal?

I look at the catalogue at afr's site and they put a 1 key for what is street legal. The regular 195cc have it but the comp version doesn't (# 1039). But here is the thing, vendors(more than one) list the 195cc comp version is 50 state emissions legal...Is it that afr is lacking on updates or am I just not getting not understanding something or are vendors trying to get another sale? Thanks!

Here are a couple of sites that I googled up that say afr 195cc comps are 50 state street legal:

Maybe I am off base, and I am sure if I am, then someone will correct me. Heads will not do anything significant to emissions. Its the cam selection that effects emissions.

Thats the sad thing about PRK emissions law CARB does not care if your car runs clean if it uses unapproved parts and is passes the emissions part of the test it still fails.

I'm putting them on my car and they are set up for EGR. Far as I know they are 50 state legal. From a practical standpoint the smog techs would not know one AFR head from another.

Just don't say anything about them at smog check time.

They are legal as I've had the older AFR 190's on my car in Houston for over 10 years with no issues. It's all in the tune or cam you use as if they still do the sniffer in your area then what they are looking for is emissions. If it's a visual inspection you are worried about, then don't as once you mount them and all the other crap on top you can't even tell they aren't stock as you can't see em'. Get them you won't be disappointed as I love my AFR's and also make sure you spend a couple extra bucks and get the AFR hydra rev kit as it keeps that infamous valve float at bay and my hp and tq curves never die off thru the whole range.

all the smog equiptment is on the intake and exhaust manifolds and of course the valve covers. I can't see any head not being smog legal as long as all of the emissions equiptment is attached and working.

as stated before, you cannot even see the heads well enough to make a determination and honestly, I've never heard of any tech failing a car on the visual due to aftermarket heads.

Yup, what the engine builder recc'd when he built it over 9 years ago, and I know the CC305 is very mild for my setup but we built it for good dd drivability. Now that I don't DD it any more I have been thinking of an upgrade to a CC306/AI custom grind in a year or so, but not on my high priority list.
