Oily number 8 I would suspect a bad intake gasket before rings. If the gasket is leaking and pulling vacuum from the lifter valley it will suck oil.

Unfortunately I dont have any numbers from mine to post yet as I am still working on the tune, but I know its got a lot more than that in it even completely untuned. Stock motor i was running 13.5 @ 105 on a really crappy track.

I had a bad stumbling miss too and it was the spark plug wires.

 

Why is everyone's Mph so low with these Ai cams? When i had my stock internal stock camed 155,000 mile engine it ran 13.1 at 107. I get my new engine Forged 355 with a comp cams 305 and stock heads, and doesn't it run a 13.2 at 107 with a 58 bbk throttle body and a ati elbow and moroso intake added and better tuned, when my other engine just had the stock Tb and elbow with a ebay CAI I was thinking about an Ai cam over winter but its not worth it if its going to run like it is already.

 

So you think a car with all these problems is representative???

The cam only car I helped put together ran within .1 of a reputable companies strokers and within .4 of another companies no expense spared aftermarket headed stroke with reputable porting. Same track same day.

 

yea, trust me if it ran like it did the first week i had it, it would have much better times. Right now the car is running pig rich for some reason. Hopefully i'll get it figured out by next friday so I can get some real numbers out of it. Don't forget that this was also the first time i've ever been the drag strip. I'm sure I can put down some better times with just some more practice alone.

It seems like the exhaust leak is back, one of my hemi-coils actually came out and one of the bolts won't go into the flange at cylinder #2. The car is running extremely rich. I know I'm getting spark and I can hear excess gas hitting the header. I am also getting horrible gas mileage somewhere around 12-14 and like I said before I can actually smell raw gas. Not to mention the bogging/lack of power.

 

I will tell you right now that my AFR and fuel trims are no where near optimal, and my car already pulls very hard with the AI cam.

I miss third but as you can see i did 10 to 90+ pretty quick. There was also 4 people in the car.

 

Im just saying i have not seen any good AI cam only times. Doesn't anyone have a car that works right with one of there cam's? I don't doubt Ai's workmanship i have talked to them and emailed them numerous times and they are helping me decide the best route. I have read your story about the stroker a million times here and on ls1tech, but one time, in a different car, thats way heavier then mine, different trans, with no vids, and different cam specs isn't helping me much. I don't care about all the excuses and B.S i just want real life results.

Unfortunately I think most people are in the same boat as me and just havent got them tuned yet and tested yet. (Im taking my damn good time with mine because Im trying to learn everything about tuning myself).

 

Lol, and how many Ai cam only times have you seen? I'm glad you're able to draw such broad conclusions from such limited data. I had no idea that seeing a bad result in this post = bad results everywhere.

I don't care about your bull**** either. SHOW ME A AI CAM ONLY F-BODY THAT PERFORMS. That is all i care about. Again you guys think im coming at Ai im not i just want to see solid results, and what there cams are capable of. Thanks for the link JoeliusZ28 i knew he had a Ai cam but i never saw his dyno results.

There are maybe 3-5 people that I have seen on the forums that posted they have ordered or run Ai cam only setups. Of those I have only seen 2 results, one that is linked and one that is the topic of this post.

I believe Ai has only been offering the cam only setups for a couple of months. I CAN'T PRODUCE RESULTS ON DEMAND FOR A NEW PRODUCT THAT TAKES TIME TO SHOW RESULTS. Typing in caps and jumping to conclusions won't change any of that.

While only a handfull of people run these setups (on the forums), I am not claiming they are are fantastic unlike you who claimed they all must suck. Take a breath and call the company for some results or sit back and give them time to surface on the forums.

Problem seems to have gotten worse after the new plugs/exhaust leak fix. Made a new thread about it and am gonna post a data log this afternoon.

 

I forgot to point out that he was also having ignition issues when he made those numbers (its kind of evident)... so the car is capable of more.

You will probably hear results from me in the mid-09 season... im learning how to tune one step at a time.
