Advanced Induction Track Results

Went to the track last night for the first time ever. Haven't figured out the stumble/miss yet with the car but the weather was so nice last night I couldn't pass it up. Got in 4 passes, car kept bogging and stumbling off the line. The package in my sig has about 400 miles on it now.

This was my best and last pass:
60' ... 2.158
330 ... 5.802
1/8 ... 8.751
MPH ... 84.09
1000 ... 11.228
1/4 ... 13.348
MPH ... 107.10

I probably could have gotten more out of her but I didn't wanna keep running with the condition the car was in. Also was having trouble getting second to stick. Hopefully I can get this stumble/miss figured out this week and go back friday and get into the 12's.

The mph is good for solid mid 12s

Good luck problem solving. May even be the tune, I say that because there is a reason I no longer use pcmforless.

Once you get it sorted out it will go a good bit quicker.
Do you have datamaster?

I do have datamaster, and I can log it later today but I actually pinpointed something that is probably the cause of this. There is a loud clapping noise coming from cylinder #2. I tried re-adjusting the rockers but that wasn't it. It is a similar sound but louder and deeper, almost like the valve is hitting the piston. But I loosened up both rockers and it makes the noise even louder. Its a distinct different noise then a loose rocker. Can i take both rockers and pushrods out to try and listen to the problem more clearly or will the compression hurt the engine since the exhaust valve wouldn't be opening?

Not without a better 60ft. Were you just not hooking or what was up? What gears are you running?

Stock gears, like I said before the car was bogging at launch, almost stalling because of this issue im having. I was dumping it at around 3000 rpms and the tires didnt even spin.

They make a mechanic stehescope for listening to sounds like that. You might try picking a set up to help narrow things down.

Good luck getting things figured out, it will go faster if you keep at it.

looked up another post about a similar sound. Turns out I have a bad exhaust leak between the header flange and cylinder number 2. Both bolts must have rattled out and i pulled the plug wire, the plug had a bunch of carbon buildup on it. Explains the raw gas smell.

My car was doing the same thing b4 i swapped out my motor. It was a cap and rotor problem on mine. I'd dump the clutch at 4500 and it would lift the tires then sit back down and take off. Once i get the bugs worked out on the new motor i'll b getting track times out of it. BTW i went 13.007@107 with a 2.2 60' with the motor bogging like ur describing. that was with bolt ons and a bad clutch.

Change the plugs on that side when you do the gasket. The O2s see the fresh air being sucked in as a lean condition and it would have been dumping a lot of extra fuel.

You will get faster little by little. Exhaust leak here, valve lash there, tuning here...it will all add up. Glad you found your sound.

Found out one of my hemi-coils for one of the bolts on cylinder number two is messed up and wont hold the bolt that well. I havethe new gasket and all new plugs in the car so we'll see if one strong header bolt is enough to hold it for now until I can fixed it the right way. When I finally got the plug out in number 8 there was oil on the plug also, so I hope I don't have a bad ring or somethin in that cylinder. We'll see how the new gasket holds up for the track this friday.

Yup, just keep ironing out the little bugs and you'll be deep in the 12s without a problem
