Advanced Induction & Joe Overton
Advanced Induction & Joe Overton
I just had a couple of questions. I have been doing a bit of research on the AI cam and it seems most people are getting around 400 rwhp or more from the LT1 with the AI cam & heads. I had also heard that Joe O. has a good cam setup as well? My main question, would it be better to do the CC306 (LSA112) with 1.6 & 1.7 roller rockers and good stock heads (port & polish) or AI cam & heads with 1.6 & 1.7 (I & E). My goal is to make 400+ with a cam & heads install on stock cubic inches. I have every imaginable bolt-on you can do to the car already and have put down 323 rwhp & 343 rwtq without the ED PCM tune and no- cutout. If I was to re-dyno with the PCM tune & cut-out open I believe I could see 330 rwhp & 350 rwtq. Do you guys think with one of these setups I could break the 400 rwhp on the stock cubic inch. Any guesses what kind of torque the car would make?
(It is 96, 6spd).
Thanks for your input

Joe doesn't do cams anymore if you didn't know.
I would go with AI h/c bcuz he had one car that was making close to 430rwhp and 400tq with MAC headers! If your on a budget, Llyod does some good work too from what I have heard.

I would be very happy with those #'s. Which cam & head package from AI made those numbers?

Your goal of 400rwhp shouldn't be too hard to reach. The cc306 is old technolgy in terms of cam profiles and a better off the shelf cam would be the GM847. Your best bet would be to have a custom cam made for your set up. AI or LE have successfully produced results you are seeking, I wouldn't hesitate having any of them do the work. Its not very common to find people using 1.7 rockers on LT1's, in my opinion I would have the lift ground into the cam and stay with 1.6 rockers which should also be cheaper.

I have not asked phil about 1.7's I was just wanting to do AI's cam & heads package with a split 1.6 / 1.7 ( Intake & Exhaust).
Thanks for all the great info Valkyn 71 (thread).
Does anyone have specific thoughts on 1.6 / 1.7's (intake & exhaust) with AI's large cam & head package ?
