Adjusting Rocker Arms??
Adjusting Rocker Arms??
I did as the rebuild book said to do and feel they were way to "tight" I had to loosen the nut like two turns to get it to clack, then take the clack out and have it at zero lash and then add 1/4 turn, does this sound correct? If they are to tight what will a engine do?? Run rough? And what else?

If its too tight the engine will run rough or not even at all. Get to zero lash, which is when turning the pushrod you begin to fell drag, and then do a 1/4-1/2 turn. Ive heard of people doing up to a full turn but the less of a preload the better the results seem to be.
could it cause pinging??
Or a noise like pinging? Like the valve slamming shut on the firing of the plug with air fuel in the cylinder? Yes I set the drivers side so far running, and loosened it like 2 turns to get to no clack (zero lash) and then 1/4 turn more. If you set the valves per the book, (non running method) it seems like it puts too much of the pushrod into the lifter/piston.
still pinging...
I think the fuel air ratio is whacko, Bryan is sending another computer, he pulled major timing out and it made no difference, only does it on the 1-2 shift after it is in 2nd gear with a load, adjusted the valves with the motor running they were kind of tight, might have helped it idle slightly better, but no change in the ping.

If you havent yet go to AKM Cables and got to scanners and software, and download Datamaster. Only thing is that you need to purchace of of his cables so you can scan your car also do your own tuning and everything.
I dont have a laptop....
so that is out of the question, dont have the cable either, I found a Auto X ray scanner for 95 bucks, with the 12 pin cable for obd1 but will need a 16 pin cable.
