Adjustable stops on Pro 5.0?

I was taking a look today at the adjustable stops for my Pro today. How do you know where to set them? Also this may be a dumb question but why are they there anyway just for 3th and 4th gear?

Well someone correct me if I am wrong but stops first got poplular on aftermarket shifters with the T5 because it had no internal stop provisions and when making hard shifts from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th people were breaking the shift forks. The T56 does have internal stops and shifter stops are not required but can still be used. If you want to use them just put the trans in 3rd gear adjust the stop until it hits the shifter and back it off approx 1/2 a turn and tighten the jam nut. Then do the same for 4th. Hope that helps. yeah what the other guy said. Just make sure you really tighten that stop nut, I didn't make mine too tight and it wound up loosening and backing off some, which kept pushing me out of third gear....you don't want that.
