Accel or MSD Opti?

Hey everybody, I'm new here, but have owned my '95 Z28 since it was new. It is about to receive a 383 stroker, but I don't want to put a stock opti back on it. I had already bought a new GM unit, but then started seeing the MSD and Accel Optis. Does anybody here have comments or experience with these units? The Accel looks to be a couple hundred $ cheaper than the MSD. Is the Accel a significant upgrade over the GM? Is the MSD really worth the extra $ over the Accel? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Accel or MSD Opti?

Might want to try a "search". Both of these Optis are so new that few people have them, and those who have them have not been running them long enough to know if they are any better than stock. There has been at least one post on the MSD cap/rotor that indicates the rotor may suffer from a design fault - MSD is evaluating the rotor that failed. There are also posts that indicate the "timing adjustment" on the MSD is not necessarily set to "stock" from the factory, and there is no way of telling how to set it to stock.

Haven't seen much on the Accel. One post suggested that the Accel was the same one being sold by Summit under their own brand, and I've seen at least two reports on various boards of the Summit Optis failing.
