accel/LPE SuperRam intake

Heard a few sources mention of putting one of these on an lt1, does this work because I thought it was designed for the l98. Seems like it would be better than the lt1 intake if it has all the neccissary sensors for the lt1 pcm. Just wondering....

The Stock LT1 intake is actually a really good design. That is why there are no other aftermarket intakes availible. There would probably be little to no gain if an aftermarket manifold was made for it (besides the GM 4bbl intake for an LT1)

LPE did it on a car in GMHTP, It was a 94 25th Aniv T/A. Like said before, no point. Just expenive and to much work.

They did make an f-body LT1 version of the Super Ram for a short while, but not anymore obviously. They made a base to fit the bolt pattern of the LT1 as well as a shorter plenum to fit under the cowl. As GeneralZ said, the stock one is a very good design, so the cost/hassle of the Super Ram isn't really worth it.

I was able to locate a ported Super Ram including 3rd gen fuel rails (yes, you have to use 3rd gen fuel rails) and installed it on my 93 Z28 A4. The install was a complete PITA, and my butt dyno didn't really notice a difference over the ported stocker.

LPE used that intake on their 383 motors, only if you had an automatic tranny. I'm not clear on the difference that kept the stock (ported) intake as the choice for M6's though...

The Super Ram manifold was originally designed for the L98 to maintain mid-range torque and improve top-end power. The Super Ram is "tuned" for midrange power; the LT1 isn't tuned for any certain rpm range (really short runner design). When the Super Ram is installed on the LT1, mid-range torque improves dramatically; but from about 5500rpm on up, the stock LT1 manifold is actually better. That is the reason LPE used the Super Ram on the A4 cars (midrange power suited for the large rpm drops between shifts), and the factory LT1 manifold for the M6 cars (more top-end power to suit the narrow ratios/much smaller rpm drops between shifts). I think LPE quit making these for the LT1 a couple years ago though. HTH.
