ac problem, compressor doesn't click on

After the car is running for awhile, and i try to turn on the AC, the compressor won't turn on. However, if i turn off the car, and turn it back on again the compressor will start right up. So basically, the AC compressor will work everytime right after startup but will not work 100% after driving for a bit. Any ideas?? Thanks

have u tried charging the system
there is a sensor that if the freon is too low will not engage ac

however if the car is cool the freon may be "settled" and may be just enough to trigger system.

I dunno
just a shot in dark
