AC Delco Plats Life?????
Re: AC Delco Plats Life?????
My original plugs and wires were toast around 74k. Replaced them with Taylor wires and NGK TR-55s, the wires have been great (135k now) but had to replace the plugs after 1 year. I went with the Delco plats again and have had no problems since - doing the plugs every year on this car isn't for me.
Re: AC Delco Plats Life?????
I had problems with the stock AC/Delcos losing the platinum pucks in less than 25K miles. One puck falls off, and the gap goes to about 0.075... both pucks fall off and the gap is close to 0.100" !!!! Had two with one puck off, and 1 with both of them off.
I run Autolites for NA/small N2O/street driving, and some Champion racing plugs with the 300-shot.

Re: AC Delco Plats Life?????
As noted in an earlier post, once the gap get over maybe 0.060-0.065", you are taxing the capability of the stock ignition. Its going to idle rough, and possibly misfire at high rpm. Not good for performance.
