ABS problems. bad connection? Interference?
Several months ago the ABS light was coming almost all the time when I drove the car. 90% of the time it would come on after reaching a speed of about 20km/h. But sometimes the light would not come on or it would go off after a while. After a month or 2 of this it totally stopped coming on and everything was fine. Now today my dad took the car out and he said that the light had come on and at one point the car seemed not to stop well but pedal pressure was fine. The brakes have always worked fine when the light was on.
Anyway, I took the car for a drive just now and as soon as you reach about 20km/h the light comes on like before. The brakes were fine for me just the light was on. So, I was thinking this seems like a bad connection somewhere but where? What should I do to trouble shoot an ABS problem? I know I read somewhere before that people have had problems with new plug wires causing ABS problems from interference. I did install new plug wires maybe a month or so before the problem first occured. I did not use the stock location for the #7 wire. The wire is zip tied to the plastic shroud around the steering shaft to keep it from getting burned. Could this be causing the problem? any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

light
My light comes on every so often and all I do is turn the front wheels all the way to one side and then reach in to the center on the back of the wheel and you will feel where the ABS sensor is pluged in and just unplug and plug it back in and the the light goes out . this happens about once every 1-2 year .
Another area to check is the ground post that's located next to the positive post (red cap on passenger side fender). The ABS system ground connects here. Remove the ground leads from the post, unscrew the post from the fender and remove the paint underneath. The factory is relying on the post threads for a good ground...bad design. My friend's car had the ABS and Trac Control lights on; cleaned the ground and cured his issues.
Does your 3rd brake light work? Mine did not, it had good bulbs, 12v to the plug. When I plugged the bulbs into the socket the 12v disappeared. It ended up being the brake light switch on the pedal...Hope this helps..Nader
I don't know if this will help any,but here goes.Previous posts have suggested that there are abs connectors at the wheel itself that get rusty, and have to be cleaned. Also,at the back of the car,in front of the rear axle, mounted to the body, there are some connections that get toasted as well.Might check those areas for faulty connections.My02
Re: light
I took the car out tonight and sure enough the ABS light EVENTUALLY came on. Then the stopping problems. So I stopped and did what radarb8 sugested. Drove the car for about one and a half hours afterwards and everything has been fine so far. I guess that was it.
Thanks for all the help guys.
