Re: abs inop

I would check your sensors, Mine comes on occasionally.. I just restart the car and it goes way...apears to be random. Maybe a dirty sensor? or a broken one.

Re: abs inop

How many miles are on your car? I was having a problem of my ABS inop light coming on when ever i would get on my car hard and as the car got into higher RPMs the light would come on. My car was only charging at about 12.5 volts too. I was also trying to track down a low hp problem so i put in a new fuel pump and Racetronix harness. The car instantly charges at 13.5 volts now and when i get on it the ABS inop light never comes on. I noticed the Fuel pump plugs into the power block as the ABS light so my theory is the fuel pump was drawing too much juice and it would set off the ABS sensor. Its just a theory and could be dead wrong but i would look into it.

Re: abs inop

Was doing a search and came across this. My light came on and stayied on. Tracked it down to the wire from the wheel sensor was stuck/melted against my headers. Soon as I fixed it no problems. Would explain why the light didnt come on until it was warmed up.

Re: abs inop

Check for the obvious first, burnt wire, disconnected connector. There are about 50 codes that the ABS system can throw. Get you car scanned for the ABS code if you can't find an obvious cause.

Re: abs inop

I'm having exactly the same problem with my car but haven't had the chance to look at it yet. Thanks for some of the suggestions.

Re: abs inop

Happened about two weeks ago to me. The alternator was overcharging (17+ volts) and as soon as I changed it (and replaced the belt, ton of cracks in it) the problem went away.

How about putting the particulars of your vehicle like yr, mk and model, tranny and mods and include with or without TC and where you are located?

As far as your problem is concerned, someone above said to scan it. Start there. Then reset the code and see if it returns. A soft code such as yours is usually a sensor, however, it will almost always set an ABS INOP within seconds of the car rolling. You said it takes as long as 10 min. Once you've proved the same code returns, you can then trouble shoot it from there.

Re: abs inop

Another common thing to check is the ground wires on the passenger fender next to the RED plastic power block. Clean them up and tighten them good...
