? About the WS9 RPO code

So I have a little time today to look up the RPO codes on the Trans Am that I recently purchased. I noticed that the sticker doesn't have the RPO for the Trans Am spoiler or the Trans Am conversion but it does have WS9 which from what I understand is the RPO for a Formula conversion? Would it be accurate to say that this car started off as a Formula and was then converted by a previous owner in to a T/A? Also another RPO I found is G92 -performance suspension package. I see listed in addition to the RPO code for FE2 which is listed as - Suspension system, Ride handling. Is the G92 suspension any different from your average LT1 F-body or is it standard for all?

Maybe the RPO sticker has some mistakes on it, who knows

I ordered and took delivery of my '96 TA (no WS6 option) and it has both of those RPO codes on the door, so to answer your question: no, your car wasn't converted by the previous owner...it was converted at the factory. I have yet to see any non-WS6 TA that doesn't have WS9 on the RPO options sticker. In essence, all Trans Ams start out as a Firebird converted to a Formula and clad with the ground effects and badges that make it a TA. Underneath, they're basically the same. I once looked up every RPO on my car and if I remember correctly there is an RPO that corresponds to "TA badging & ground effects" or something like that.

My 96 Formula has the WS9 RPO code, but I don't recognize the G92... I'll check for it this afternoon...

I think you T/A guys should see Y82 or Y83 listed, as that is what I believe are TransAm packages.

I have seen some different references on the web about G92 being possibly the 3.23 axle ratio, but we mostly see GU5 to represent that. Also G92 meant 3.07 ratio on a 3rd gen. Are there any other Gxx codes for axle ratio on the RPO sticker?

Maybe there is something different because it is a 1993? There are some quirks to those as we know.

Maybe it is due to it being a '93... the reason the RPO codes a little different? I wrote down all of the RPO codes on a slip of paper and I don't have Y82 or Y83 listed. GU5 is on there for the 3.23 axle ratio.

I did find this on one site...

RPO: G92
Description: Perfomance rear axle 3.23 in conjunction with MX0
Date Range: 1976 - 2000

RPO MX0 is automatic transmission with OD but my '93 has always been an M6 and has it listed so with the MN6 RPO in the glovebox?

BTW... I do have G80 listed which is the code for the posi rearend.

But either way, just trying to educate myself on exactly what each of the RPO codes stand for on my car. I have the evening off and got to tinkering around with it

Thanks!
