? about rocker studs and valve lash

Are there certain valve studs that are suppposed to be used when going from stamped rockers to roller. I have a couple that are bottoming out on the nut of the stud and its hard to adjust them.
Secondly, has anyone set their valves at o lash and left it there with the Comp R lifters. My car was idling at about 600rpms so I thought my valve adj was too tight so I back them all off to about 1/8 turn past 0 lash and it still idles low. Could it be a result of the first question?

thats funny. My engine builder firmly believes i should go zero lash with 1.6 RR and comp R lifters. I always hear people going 1/8 over, even 1/4 over.

I'd like to know as well if anybody else has gone zero

I had the some problems with the stock studs hitting. I switch to ARP studs and they cleared. They have a lower profile nut.

Zero is ideal for the most power. But unless you have a sump system, the lifters will bleed down, and it could cause problems. 1/8 over is more then satisfactory. Any more is nothing but safety and quietness, at the cost of power.

Spinner, are those Comp RR lifter specific instructions? I had to go 1/2 past for stock lifters.

Thats for any fresh lifter. Comp R or stock, shouldnt really matter, though the Rs are much stiffer and don't bleed down as much. Stockers might need a little more as a safety margin, but again, 1/2 past is WAY overkill.
