Better to pull the car... and pick the motor up.

The car was totalled and I am parting it out. the only thing left in the car is the motor. It will be very easy for me to pull it through the top I just want to know if it is ok to lift from the heads.

It should be ok. I don't think that the bolts you'll be lifting with will damage the threads or warp anything. I did it a few years ago. 40k on the motor and no problems with anything... so I guess it didn't hurt anything.

You'll be fine pulling the motor by the heads. There's some pics in my sig of me putting the motor back in with the chains attached to the heads.

why not just go where the intake manifold bolts up, like a normal human?

yes I know - I was wandering if it is ok to pull from there so the intake didn't have to come off

but it doesn't matter - I pulled the intake and the motor is out.

Now its time to build a 383

thanks for the help
Josh
