A4 Dudes. I gotta tell ya about the ShiftPlus.

I just installed the B&M ShiftPlus two weeks ago. Basically it is a 3 way switch with selectable shift firmness. Stock, firmer than stock and much firmer than stock. Unbeleivably it is only $39. It works by simply raising the line pressure. The shift firmness is not whats impressing me about this little gizmo. It is the much improved launching that I have with it now. When my tranny gets hot, it sometimes feels like a slush box off the line. It is all stock and well maintained. But with the ShiftPlus activated, WHOA, I can launch. I just beat a brand new M3 straight up off the line and kept him in my mirrors the whole time. I got so excited I just had to tell you.

Let us know how the tranny rebuild goes.

Shift kit.....Shift kit......Shift kit....
I don,t like the shift mode or the shift plus things, I think if you want the tranny to shift better and hold gears put a shift kit in it.

It is worth it for me. Anyhow I only flick it on once in a while. B&M claims it does not harm your transmission.

i put the transgo shiftkit in mine, and it does not help the tranny to shift better. either the transgo shift kit is messed up or my tranny is messing with me again

Its your car you can do whatever you want to it.
I personally think that a shift kit needs to be put in if you are going to stress the tranny in that way.
If you did not notice a difference with the shift kit then whoever installed it did not do it right or the tranny is in need of service.

Just my opinion.
It may work out great for you.

A shift kit you install in the tranny I'm ok with, but I know several people who have had their tranny mess up (start slipping, running like crap, etc.) after using the B&M electric shift thing.

My last tranny toasted itself in 7000 miles a considering this tranny was new from gm, thank god for the 3 year 50k mile warrenty. you can do the same thing with the B&M as you can with a switch and some wire maybe shoebox will jump in and elaborate on this, and it doesnt help WOT shifts.

The attractive thing for me about the ShiftPlus was that you only turn it on when you want to. During normal driving there is no need to have it on. But if your racing or whatever its nice to just be able to raise the line pressure and get that good launch.

Vegas makes a very good point about being able to turn it off and on. You don't get that selectability with a shift kit.

However, I heard so many bad things about the Shift+ so I never installed mine. I also never race from a stop.

TransGo shift kit > any lame shift improver.

Increasing line pressure is the absolute worst way to make your transmission shift harder.

Isn't this ShiftPlus thing basically what Trans ams/Formulas have stock? Anyone know if the "performance" option actually helps at all, 1/4 mile wise?
