987 valve spring shims

Just wondering do the 987-16 comp cam springs need shims too or just the locators? Getting ready to install everything and want to be sure the springs are in right. I know I have to grind the seats a bit but what else?

Re: 987 valve spring shims

The shims help setup the spring height, thus setup the spring pressure. You really need to check the spring height if not you can risk running to less of spring pressure and causing valves bounce.

Plus you should already have the retainers, seats and locks.

How are you going to ground the seats? They make cutters for that purpose.
