I agree with Schantin. Not all 97's are 30th Anniversary. They are the 30th year but only the white with the hugger orange stripes are actual anniversary cars.

The white with orange stripes is the "Special Edition 30th Anniversary" Camaro. Any car built in '97 is a 30th anniversary. It's not just a 30th. I've seen a lot of them non white & orange 30th anniversary Z's. Hell I almost bought a silver one. Then there is the "Special Edition LT4" anniversary Z.

From your description though, I'd be kinda wary of this guy IS it a salesperson at a dealership? Honestly, the guy sounds like a tool. "The fast and the furious".....come on.
I was kinda iffy about him. He sounded like the owner of the dealership, but I'm not sure.

He was like, "yeah we have all kinds of hot rods! Z28, Corvette, 3000GT, Civic Si..." Then I was like, "Uhhhh..."

Haven't been to test her out yet, probably Friday. Can't wait tho, even if I don't get it

The anniversary edition was a white car with orange strips and white rims.......the door handles were also white to match the color of the car (anniversary edition only).........all the other cars had black door handles........only these anniversary edition 97's had factory stock white leather with orange embroidered in the headrest or white leather with a white and black plade pattern in the middle of the seat with the orange embroidered headrest........the rest of the 97s were anniversary cars, but had 30th eched in the headrests (not embroided.....like the anniversary edition has).............................I think he changed the seats in the car...(you did say that the car was black right??)...............but as for for the difference in motor and performance...........(like someone posted earlier).....there is no difference except for appearance............unless you can find the and lt4 anniversary edition.......i think only like a 1000 of those were made...........if that many.

oh sorry...................as for price...........i think 9k is a little high.......if it has 95k miles i wouldnt pay more than 8..........but drive it and find out...........make sure everything performs as well as it should.........................i paid 12,500 for mine with 68k miles on it...........its in showroom condition with perfect black lether seats.......not a scratch in the paint......polished crome factory rims.......the car is flawless.....pampered by the previous owner.{old owned it......bought brand new, (all service records since the day it rolled off the showroom floor)}.....and has never been raced ...............as for your price question.....try to get him down to 8,000 and if everything else checks out........go for it

I think $9k is way too high. I have a buddy that is selling his red 97 SS for not much more than that.

Just a heads up there Hot Rodders!
The 1997 SS Anniversary Edition:

Has white seats, all leather or white leather seats with the black and white hounds tooth cloth insert. The stitching is also with color, Red, White, Blue, Black and Silver on all three seats.
Also not mentioned the side view mirrors are also white. Along with the door handles and 17” ZR1 type wheels.

Misconceptions about power options on a non LT4 car:

It came with a auto transmission but optioned the 6 speed.

It came with the same Z28 exhaust unless you had the option for the Famous Two on the Left! Which put it to the "310 HP" area, it gained 15 from that and the other 10 from the cold air/ram intake that came on the SS models. GM’s rating, at the flywheel.

Minor but important things, oil cooler, Hurst shifter, Bilstien suspension options.
Other options, cosmetic were, cover, floor mats, etc.

And remember a true SS has the SLP sticker on the passenger side door and under the hood on the radiator cover.
A true LT4 SS, came only 6 speed and a hard top only! SLP took the engine and balanced and blue printed it, not sure about a true 4 bolt or 2 main cap though, remember this car started out as a Z28, then was shipped off to SLP.

I bought mine used, but it came with all stickers, GM & SLP’s and books GM’s and SLP’s too!
So any questions I could answer for you guys?

Just want people to be smart shoppers when they see a SS car, if it’s real or not, there are fakes out there!

Just look at the sig at the bottom, sux don't it!

This is a common misconseption that needs to be cleared up. Yes, I will admit that it does annoy me. The 1997 camaro is the 30th Anny year. So yes all 1997 camaros are the 30th Anny year car(which is why all of them have the 30th logo stitched on the seat headrest), but only the ones with the artic white paint with hugger orange stripes, white leather seats with the 30th logo stitched in the headrest, white 30th dash plaque, and the white 5-star rims are the TRUE 30th ANNY EDITION CAMARO. It was a limited edition from the factory and was called the 30th Anny EDITION. People need to stop calling their 1997 camaros the 30th Anny EDITION and refer to them as the 30th Anny year. There is a difference. That difference is the word EDITION!! It refers to a limited number of cars that recieved this special package to celebrate the 30th Anny of this car. And yes it does make the car more rare and is why people with the Anny EDITION do get annoyed when others claim that they have this car. Sorry if I am peeved, but it does upset those of us that took extra time and spent extra money to get this EDITION of the car due to it being rare.

Digging up the dead eh. Here's a thought - get over it and enjoy your car for your own reasons. I think most people know the difference between the 30th anniversary edition cars and regular '97 Z28s - nobody is trying to infringe on your beloved anniversary edition pride.

Mine come with all these except the white zr1s. Whats up with that. But I got some on the way 17 9.5 & 11s better anyway. BUt to the topic I think you can talk him down. The guy I bought mine from started at $8500 I got my for $7500 tax included with 75K on the clock!! You just have to point out all the flaws and talk like you really know cars. Works everytime. When I got it home all I had to do was brakes, tires and clean it up because it was dirty. And I check under the car and found flowmaster and a K&N. I got my Impala in 99 when the value was around 20K I got it for 16K
