97Z vs 30th
97Z vs 30th
Right now I'm looking at a 1997 "30th" Anniv. Camaro.
I went on Sunday, so they weren't open and just got to look at it. When I called the guy up he was like, "30th anniversery baby! 6-speed, fast and the furious!" I was like, "OK"
The seats have 30th embroidered on them and thats it, it wasn't white w/ orange stripes. This one is black, were they available in black or did he just swap seats?
Also he is asking around 9k for it - It has 91,000 miles, M6, t-tops, tinted winders. The exterior and interior looks in pretty good shape. There was a KKB paper sitting on the dash that had it for 12k. Do you guys think the price is good, if not what is a reasonable price? Thanks in advance!

all 97s are 30th anniversary, the white and orange was just a special edition, same as 2002s are 35th anniversary, and the speciall edition has the stripes........there is really no difference in power, they r the exact same motor and drivetrain, just a different appearance package.
I have pretty much the same car you're looking at. Black 97Z28, M6 but mine is a convertible. I picked mine up for 12k with 45k miles on it. Everything was mint. I think 9k for that is a good deal. Let us know how it goes
BTW: Mine is a 30th Aniv

Unless you happen to find one of the LT4 SS 30th Anniversary Editions
I have a red 97 Z28 30th anniversary. Like the last man said, all 97's are 30th anniversary cars. As far as the price for that car it sounds decent. I would take it for a test drive and see how good it drives and make sure it still has good pick up. You can find some lemons out there that have been dogged out. If i were you, I would shop around and make sure you get what you want!!!!
Thanks for the info - I wasn't sure.
I rated it on KBB.com and they said 6,220...so I'll see if he'll go down.
9k doesn't seem like a bad price but I don't know, I'll see what I can get!

they are very rare tho, correct, how many were produced, anyone????
I didn't know that. I realize that a 1997 Camaro is the 30th year that the car was built, but I thought that the 30th Aniversary Camaro was the White/Orange vehicle with the white seats, and 30th Aniversary emblems.
My 97SS, Black doesn't seem to have any 30th Aniversary emblems, but maybe I should check again.
Perhaps the z cars are different from the SS?
At any rate, my guess is that the car is not a 30th aneversary car and the seats are Knock offs. Then again, I would be interested in any other thougts or facts.
With regard to anything other than appearance, the cars are the same. JMHO.

All camaros made in 1997 have a 30th symbol stamped in each front seat and the center of the rear seat. Same way that all 2002 Camaros say 35th Aniversary on the dash trim panel. The guy is asking book value if the car is in excellent condition. It is very high mileage though for a 97. My car has 65,000 miles on it and is the low side of average. The car is most likely worth between $8-9K max depending on the factory options, shape of the paint/body, and what type of mods he's done to the car. The high mileage is the big deductor from the value. From your description though, I'd be kinda wary of this guy IS it a salesperson at a dealership? Honestly, the guy sounds like a tool. "The fast and the furious".....come on.
Just FYI, the drivetrain on the "real" 30th package is identical to any other Z28 made in 1997. The only exception are the limited number of SS CAmaros made in 97 with the 30th paint and graphics package. These had 330HP LT4 V8's as conpared to the 285HP in the LT1 Z28.
