97 z-28 exhaust setup help

i have a 97 z-28 with a homemade CAI, bbk chrome shortty headers, and what i think is a flowmaster american thunder exhaust with dual exits. Before i go putting money into the engine i want to make sure i have the best possible exhaust setup i can. I was thinking hi flow cats to a x-pipe to slp loudmouth resonators to tips. Is this a good setup? would it be better to just take the cats out all together? it it worth it to swap out the shortties for long tubes?
Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Re: 97 z-28 exhaust setup help

Your setup is gonna be up to you, how loud you want it, ect. If you cut the cats you will pick up a little HP, but you will also have to run rear O2 sims or have them tuned out, also its illegal in most states to remove emmisions from the vehicle. If you go with high flow cats your going to spend more money, and lose a negligible amount of HP. Also removing the cats will effect sound without them it will give the car a more "raw" sound so if you prefer that cut them off, if your trying to keep the tone as smooth as possible you would want to keep them on. As for the headers, your probably not going to be able to tell a huge diff. between LT's and shorties with the setup in your sig, if you end up putting heads and cam on the car then I would go Long tube then, in my opinion it wouldnt be worth the hassle with what you have done now
