97 ws6 engine into a 95z28?????

heres the deal. my friend offered to give me 2500 for my engine, plus his stock engine out of his 97 ws6. i dont think it would be a problem to swap the engines. we'd swap engines, computers, exhausts, and rearends. my question is hooking up the induction system on his ws6, all lt1 intakes from 95-97 are the same? we wouldnt have a problem hooking it up to the cammed engine with the programmed computer. my boss who is an old gm service manager says it wont work. i think hes wrong.

The intakes from 95-97 are the same. Only slight problem I could foresee is 95 is obd1 and 97 is obd2, so you may have to have the computers in both cars reprogrammed for the new engine. That's about it.

The 97 computer will work in a 95 body, but it will need to be reprogrammed. Also, you will not have a connector for the crank sensor and rear o2s. (which you probably won't even have space for unless you're taking his exhaust as well) So it will work fine if you get it reprogrammed.
97s also have a different coil, so you will need to swap coils/modules with him. Other than that, it should work fine.

You only need an update on your OBD1, right? That would be $40+$13 shipping and another $107 for the OBDII. (discounted 15%)

that sounds good ill let you know. what about the idea of swapping out the wiring harness too, would a program be easier? can you program out the crank sensor?

No, you don't want to swap harnesses. Yes, I can program out the crank sensor.
