97 camaro won't start

whats up guys, i am new to the site, and a bone-head when it comes to cars.

i have a 97z that was giving me the security light for a week prior and it would start after a couple of minutes.

now, the car won't even crank. i had my friend check it out, he eventually started the car straight from the starter, but it cut out after a couple of seconds...so i guess not the battery or starter. he got an ohm match from the key through the lock-cylinder(if i remembered correctly), and he said the relay behind the glove box was still good.

any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.

Check out Shoeboxes stuff (and one other) here and eliminate the potentials till you find the villain.
