96z28 Gutted Cat
I was wondering how badly my car would run if i just gutted the drivers side cat? Would it run extremely rich..would it be unbalanced since the passenger side is flowing through a cat? Did a search and all i found were single cat LT1s.
Re: 96z28 Gutted Cat
too hard to gut? Just take a metal rod and a hammer and bang on the crap that is inside the cat. Start up the car and give it a few revs to blow the stuff out. May have to repeat this several times, but it should work. Unless im mistaken on how the cat bolts up on a dual cat car.
Re: 96z28 Gutted Cat
the drivers side is easy to do however the passenger side is in the middle of a pipe that is bent in many ways so just sticking a pipe (or a screwdriver) wont get the job done. And i dont feel like cutting and welding (cause i dont have tools for either).
Re: 96z28 Gutted Cat
When I took my y pipe off, the driver side was already gutted and I just left it. It has been fine for me so far.
But the sad part is that I did have all the equipment to cut and weld. I was just to lazy. (In the middle of pulling the heads.) So who knows how long I've been running like that. I plan to gut the other one or replace both soon though.
