What's the fuel pressure with the new filter?

If your fuel pump can only put out 22psi, there's something serioulsy wrong with the fuel system. Faulty pump, or faulty fuel pressure regulator. If the epump sounds like its slowing down, it probably is near death.

I took the car to my buddy's house yesterday to use his fuel pressure tester, so I'm not sure what kind of pressure it has now. As far as starting, everything seems the same. Takes 2 to 3 cranks to get it running. But the pump definitely sounds sick. The radio was barely on, and I had to turn it off just to hear the pump after the 2nd cycle.

Definitely a pump.

Unfortunately, you just can't buy a pump for a 4th gen. It comes as an assembly that includes, pump, float/sender, wiring, multiple lines, cap ... get ready to drop a couple hundred bucks.

I put a trap door in my race car.

What you see there is kind of small, too.

The hard lines run forward and turn 90* to the driver's side. They also go far forward, where the curvature of the bulkhead is.

I enlarged the trap door so that it is about 1/2" from the curvature of the bulkhead and just inside of that "rib" on the driver's side.

I have a rivnut tool and inserted blind nuts into the car's sheet metal so that a #10 stainless steel machine screw holds it in place.

The black edging is door edging material you can get at any parts store. It helps keep the aluminum panel from rattling. I've also added 4 more screws to stop it from rattling.

To cut the door, I bought a $9 cut-off tool from Harbor Freight, drew out where I THOUGHT the trap door needed to be, cut a very small door to make sure and kept enlarging it till I the space I needed.

When using that cut-off wheel, be DAMNED careful. The fuel lines and fuel tank are damned close to the floor of the car. Plunging that wheel into the car will cut the fuel lines and tank. Just skim the surface.

Good luck and HTH

Racetronix 255LPH Walro pump only is $160. Adding the wiring kit increases it to $250.

Had the same problem with mine. Had it flushed/filled. Replaced the overflow and thermostat and bled the system constantly. A shop took off the radiator cover and there were a bunch of leaves and dirt that had built up in the radiator fins. I didnt have a way to blow it out so they did and cleaned it with water also. Since then it hasnt even come close to halfway and I went from a 160 stat back to a 180. Now it can sit in traffic all day with the Ac on and no problem, and I live in Phx with 110 degree days.

also.... really depends on how dirty/dusty the conditions are where you live. clean it well like i mentioned and see if that helps you at all. it was getting so hot and boiling the coolant out it caused my low coolant light to come on. hasnt even blinked since i did that to it.
