i think the computer and harness are different...the 95 is a obd1 and the 96 is a obd2 but there is pry a cheaper way than a new computer and harness.

Im thinking I can just bolt it in, and just not plug the extra items in. And use my obdI computer.

Use the 96 motor with the 95 harness, PCM, and OBDI knock sensor. There will be some other minor issues, but that's the easiest way to do it.

im putting a 97 engine in a 94. i asked the same on another forum.

shoebox told me to do just that, just said plug everything up that will, use the 94 coil and 97 opti harness..

so you would use your coil from the 95.. i think you already have the vented opti as where i didnt have vented opti on my 94 engine.. you might not even have to use the different coil. you might check on that.

i also asked shoebox about using the knock sensor from the 94 engine in the 97 engine after i get it in the car, havent got a response yet..

maybe someone can answer that here.

Wait, I thought the 1995 is a weird year and can have either OBDI and OBII. True?

You have to use a 93-95 knock sensor (4Kohms) with an OBD-I PCM, and you have to use a 96/97 knock sensor (100Kohms) with an OBD-II PCM. The alternative, when running an OBD-I PCM with a 96/97 knock sensor is to add a resistor internal to the PCM.

As noted above - ALL 95' are OBD-I. ALL 95's have a 16-pin OBD-II "style" ALDL connector. There are no OBD-II 95's.
