95 Z28 Camaro Missing Stalling Etc.?
My 95 z28 had a small miss and I thought it needed a set of wires which I was gonna purchase and change Sat. The miss was there for about a week while driving home from work yesterday it started missing really bad and almost stalled out. This morning after getting warmed up it died and restarted a few times. Went to start car awhile ago to check it out and the smog pump I think or whatever it is that makes the whining noise for a second when you turn the key it keeps coming on and off with key turned but car not started and also rpm gauge is moving up and down with key turned but car off. Car will start and idle fine for a min. then die. Car had new plugs and optispark unit about 5000 miles ago. Im not sure what to replace first now and ses light comes on and off when car is missing. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would check the fuel pressure and read the codes first. The light does not need to be on, since it can have stored codes. You can either buy a cheap one for about $35 or borrow one. Something simple like a fuel filter could be clogged. You should list a little history like the mileage, mods and what all has been done lately to the car.

Re: 95 Z28 Camaro Missing Stalling Etc.?
Im going to change fuel filter this evening since it's of course a cheap possibility. Car has 170k and auto. tranny. Has flowmaster catback exhaust and k&n cold air intake everything else is stock mechanically. About 5k ago the water pump went and ruined the opti spark both were replaced along with the plugs but the wires haven't been changed. I think it may be something electrical because the rpm gauge moving with the car not running. What kind of code reader do I need for the 95 model. Could it be the tps?
Re: 95 Z28 Camaro Missing Stalling Etc.?
Just had codes read and this is what it said. Low resolution pulse circuit, high resolution pulse circuit, ignition control ground circuit, MAF circuit, PCM /PROM/ FLASH ERROR. Does this sound like computer to anyone. Help Please! Thanks

sounds like an electrical problem to me. the nose that your hearing may be the
fuel pump loosing power you need to find out what those codes mean

Re: 95 Z28 Camaro Missing Stalling Etc.?
DTC 16 (low res pulse from Opti cam position sensor) and DTC 36 (high res pulse from Opti cam position sensor) would indicate a failure of the optical cam position sensor in the Opti, or a faulty Opti harness/conjnector. Depends whether they are "stored" or "active". Clear the codes (pull PCM BAT fuse for 30 seconds - I think in 95 they moved it into the under hood box) and see how fast they come back. If DTC 16 comes back while cranking, the PCM won't allow the engine to start.
Could also be a PCM ground problem.
