95 Z-28 No Start
Ah.. That's very interesting. Where was the break? Between the key and ignition switch? I'm sure its highly unlikley that it's in the same place for me but it will give me more places to look.
it breaks in the column where it turns to out of the lock cylinder. you have to pull the upper column apart, behind the steering wheel is to get it. they are really thin wires and over time they break from flexing or they get pinched.
Just jumped the clutch pedal switch and still no cranking... WTF? I'm at a loss.. The switch had 8.5 volts in and 8.5 volts out. When I jumped the switch the brown wire going into the relay stayed at 8.5 when the key was on and in the start position... it wasn't doing this before. Any ideas?
Alright so I'm about ready to rip the fresh stroker out and bring the Da*# car to the junkyard and scrap it. When the key is on the on position the brown wire on the ignition switch is reading 12.5ish and when you go to crank the car the voltage drops to 0... Sounds backwards to me.
Just for laughs check your PCM IGN fuse its 15 amp in passenger compartment. When I pulled that fuse on mine, nothing would happen when you turned the key. Put the fuse back in and it cranked right over.Might not be it but it don't hurt to look.
Alrighh, this car is more and more puzzling everytime I work on it. The clutch switch has no power going to it, I'm guessing one of those wires should be hot and when the circuit is closed ie, clutch is depressed current travels through to the other wire and towards the relay? The brown wire on the ignition switch has 12.5v when the key is on and 0v when it is cranking. This sounds backwards to me? I would think power should be going to the relay. At the relay the brown wire has no power with the key on or cranking, which makes no sense because there are no breaks in the wire and its a straight shot to the relay.
Lets get some ideas flowing!!
Thanks,
Jason

After getting some sleep and a fresh mindset I think I found the problem. When I jump the brown and yellow wires on the ignition switch the car will crank with the clutch pedal depressed. This shows me the ignition switch is bad unless I'm over looking something. To answer your question, there are no inline fuses and the 3amp fuse is good, actually every fuse in the car is good.
The beast is alive!!! It actually turned out to be a bad ignition switch. After days of trouble shooting wires it is finally cranking with the key. Now I just got to put everything back together.. Thanks for all the help!
