Is the LT1 ICM's manufactured differently for California! Tried to order ACDELCO D1905E and was messaged that they can not ship this unit to California???
O'Reilly Auto Parts does test ICM's, the staff just needs to know they have the equipment to test. I went to three stores in my area, 1st did not have correct plug, 2nd said they don't test ICM's, third walked me to back and tested the ICM. Called area manager and he said all stores in his area will now have all the proper equipment and training.

Re: '95 lt1 icm
I received the message from Summit Racing, although, if you confirm it's for off-road only they will ship it. Also received the "no ship to my address" message from Amazon. No problems with other after-market cheap ICM, just the ACDELCO I listed.

Re: '95 lt1 icm
I called Amazon when I could not get them to ship me the AC Delco ICM....they really had no answer other than its a "product coding" thing that puts it in that category...but that they don't know how to "un do" that. IIRC I wound up ordering it from Summit and anytime the box pops up about off road or using in a model year X....of course I click off-road
CA has a shiat load of weird stupid shipping bans and frankly online retailers like Amazon just default to not ship some thing there

Shoebox's part list show a different part #:
1994-1995 Ignition Control Module AC-Delco # D1986A
GM Part # 10483139
Is your part # a supersede on a discontinued part? I looked up the D1905E on Amazon, and it asked me to enter vehicle info. When I entered 1995 Chevrolet Camaro (there was no option to choose engine type) I got "This does not fit your: 1995 Chevrolet Camaro". I looked the part # up on AC Delco site, and it says it does, but the AC Delco search allowed choice of 5.7L code P.

Funny this came up as a concern.. i
I recently had a similar problem for my '93. I ordered a Rock Autopart ICM a AC Delco GM # 19352930/ D1971A, so it says on the box. The I.C.M. on inside the box is Chinese made!
Several problems already. I installed it using spacers(washers). Stalling on occasion, then restarting after a few minutes. Car now sits.
Did not mean to hijack this post but I thought others might like to know whats printed on the box does not mean that what is on the inside.

Does the AC Delco box say "Made in USA"? Or does it not indicate source at all? Wouldn't surprise me if AC Delco was having their stuff manufactured in China. Everybody is.

Re: '95 lt1 icm
The ICM in my '95Z would regularly go bad after a couple years of operation. I had done the space mod placing it off the cylinder head about a half-inch, made sure and used heat transfer compound, I changed to a bolt/nut setup instead of the screw that screws into the assembly, nothing helped.
One year I decided to go with an AC Delco ICM. It was worse than the others. I didn't look to see where it was made. Since that time I went with an ICM from Autozone. It still went bad after a couple of years but it was a free replacement with their warranty.
Last year I fixed the problem permanently by converting to the 24x Torqhead ignition and I haven't looked back.

Re: '95 lt1 icm
The ICM generates more heat than the head is at, remember, the LT1 is reverse cooled(head receives coolant first) so moving the ICM off the head may allow for LESS heat transfer from ICM.

Re: '95 lt1 icm
I would suggest taking some shots with an infrared temp gun. The #1 exhaust port is immediately "around the corner" from the ICM mounting surface. That's exposed to 1,000+-degF exhaust gasses. And aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat.
